Glad you feel you can ask me, because I’m always happy to help! Especially with things that I have some understanding of.
First of all, I was in a similar situation about 4 years ago, I’d always assumed I was straight, and largely ignored anything that suggested otherwise.
Here’s a loose definition of what it is to be bisexual (remember that sexuality isn’t static and it’s different for everyone):
- You have both romantic and sexual attractions to both sexes, to roughly the same level.
- When/if you think about being in a long term relationship you feel you could be happy and fulfilled with a male or a female.
- The label “bisexual” may just seem to fit you, in a way that heterosexual or homosexual never quite does.
Remember: if you have a crush, or sexual feelings towards a member of the same sex, that doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t straight, like I said, sexuality is complicated. Also, if you enjoy flirting, kissing or even having sex with people who are the same gender as you, that again does not necessarily make you bisexual. Sex is sex, and you’re probably going to enjoy it no matter the gender of the person you’re with, regardless of your sexuality.
Ultimately, my definition of what it is to be bi is going to differ from the next person, and everyone else will have another view of it again. Only you can properly interpret your sexuality, so don’t stress if you can fit it into a label right away (or ever). It’s far more important to experience a relationship with someone you love than it is to worry about the gender of the person you’re with.
P.S If you want to go off anon and ask anything you don’t want published, I’m happy to answer privately.
